I am using Godaddys hosting i have never had a problem with them the problems i am having now is im trying it install a template for a world of warcraft website and it requiers me to have my root folder set to a 777 or 755 permison so it can unzip and install the pre-built joomla i am unsure how to change the root folder on godaddys hosting. I have tried to change it with my ftp and none of the ftps i use will allow me to change it so my question to you guys is anyone know how to change it ?
Hi
If you are having Permission to change the folder permission. you can use Filezilla. It’s a good FTP software
I have a godaddy account and all these are a one click install. I dont want to spend all day on each one to find out with one is the best. Which one is the most user friendly and has skins so I can match it up with my other sites?
It all depends on your requirements and preferences.
Joomla is an offshoot of Mambo, so they are quite similar, even to the point of sharing some templates. The other two are quite different.
If you are a serious webmaster, you owe it to yourself to spend at least a full day with each product. Find out which one you prefer to work with. Find out which one has the features you need for your specific sites.
"The devil is in the details," as they say. No one else is going to be able to tell you which is best for you without knowing much, much, much more about what you’re going to use them for.

Well I am new to this type of stuff so if I used the wording wrong I apologize in advance. I have a created website already on GoDaddy (its functions and everything domain name and whatnot) and would like to edit that site using Joomla if that is possible. I have been using Dreamweaver but discovered I can do more things using Joomla with their extensions. If that is possible then how would I be able to do that without having to pay some extra charge that GoDaddy seems to want to charge me. I downloaded Apache and went through the whole unzipping Joomla to a file on my computer but started to get confused because I couldn’t log in as admin on Joomla and I did not want to start a brand new website with new templates so I uninstalled everything. So what do I do? Hope this is not too confusing. Thanks in advance!

This tutorial covers how to point your domain name from GoDaddy’s admin area. Of course the steps are the same (realtively) with other companies, but since GoDaddy is one of the largest and one I recommend, I show it here.
do i need to know code to use joomla? or is it like a website builder that you see on godaddy?
Joomla is an open source content management system.
You really dont need to know ANY code to use joomla it is just about the best plug and play website building platform out there and its FREE!!!!
You can get hundreds of modules that are easy to install aswell as thousands of different site templates so it really demands little to no programming whatsoever.
Its always best to get up to speed with Joomla though and this site may help:
